Don't those Kitchen Aids look wonderful.
They look sexy somehow.
I was lured into the sexiness of a Kitchen Aid once, a long time ago and finally got one. (It's white) I have never used it. Nope, never.
It doesn't fit in any of my cabinets and my countertops are already filled up, so I have no where to put it. It ended up in a storage closet 5 flights down from where I cook. That's not convenient.
I want to love my Kitchen Aid, but right now, I don't even know where the attatchments are. Hmmmm, I wonder.

My favorite dessert is Cookie Brittle - although technically it's spelled Kookie Brittle.
Kookie Brittle
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
6 ounces Nestle's Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Combine butter, vanilla and salt in a bowl and blend well. Gradually beat in sugar. Add flour and chocolate chips; mix well. Press mixture evenly into an ungreased 10x15-inch baking pan. Sprinkle nuts over top and gently press into dough.
At this point you can chill it in the fridge if the dough is a little soft, right on the baking sheet.
Bake for 25 minutes.
Watch it like a hawk the last 5 minutes. I end up burning it half the time.
Cool completely in pan, then break Kookie Brittle into irregular pieces. Store in air-tight container. Makes about 1 3/4 pounds of brittle.
I have found this recipe in Helen's Collection - she even gives a little background to the recipe. She adds additional Chocolate chips to her recipe, but I don't think it's necessary. It is really good the way it is.

same here.....it was back in 1990. I pined for one. I finally got one...and nope. never. used. so sad. I will bet mine still has attachemtns. It is in the original box in my moms basement...

Oh, Kristin! I got my Kitchen Aid in the color Caviar (black with tiny sparkles) about 3 years ago and I absolutely love it! I use it at least 3x a month. I make a lot of cookies and try new recipes all the time. I really like the site www.allrecipes.com. Anyhow, my next goal is to start making bread. It comes with a wonderful bread hook to make life easy. I highly recommend keeping it on the counter if you have room. Not only are they beautiful they can make you want to use it. After all they are a couple hundred dollars!
ReplyDeleteOne other cool thing...I was able to see the Kitchen Aid Museum a couple years ago. It is in Ohio, I think Greenburg? I was there for a conference, they had a huge Kitchen Aid store, and the museum was in the basement. They had more colors then I had ever seen. That was a very cool trip.
I think using a Kitchen Aid has something to do with having children in the house. LOL I had no idea you went to a KA museum - how fun!
ReplyDeleteI actually brought the appliance up from the storage closet last night - still haven't found the attachments though.
I have one - it makes a wonderful decoration on the countertop because I never have time to even think about making something that would involve the mixer. Of course, it's great to at hiding the spare set of keys to my car!
