Something to talk about

I got out my Listography book today. My husband was hunched over his computer and I was hunched over mine. We hadn't said anything to each other in a few hours and the TV was droning on and on with the news. (I can't even begin to explain how much I hate watching/listening to 100 hours of news each day.)

I thought I'd invite some conversation and mute the TV so I got out the book and started with just one question.

What famous people have we met or seen since we've been together?

He started telling stories. Stories about the people he's met - he's met a lot! He even told me stories about people we had met.

He told me about the time we met Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara.

He didn't know who they were and I guess I was terribly excited. We talked for several minutes. I told them I was a fan and was so happy to have them on the cruise ship. After we met them I informed Tom who they were and he realized he did know who they were afterall. I guess it was a highlight of our trip for me and I don't remember any of it.

I really do like these two comedians, I can imagine how excited I'd be to meet them. I can't for the life of my figure out why I don't remember actually meeting them. I don't drink, so it wasn't that :) Anyway, it was a highlight!

I've met a lot of NASCAR drivers. While living in Spruce Creek Fly-In community just outside of Daytona Beach we had several drivers in our neighborhood, we had some of the announcers/former drivers living there and they all had airplanes so we saw them fly in, too. I met Kyle Petty, also a NASCAR driver in Flagler Beach. He and his wife were pulling into the parking lot of the restaurant on their motorcycles and I was standing right there. So when they got off the bikes I was right there very eager to say hello. My husband came out of the restaurant and was shocked to see me standing there talking with Kyle Petty.

My husband and I attended the Malibu and Mirage Owners and Pilots Association meeting one year in St. Augustine and one of the people at our table was Stuart Woods - (whose airplane is for sale. You can see the plane here. We had a plane just like this, just a different paint scheme and a few years older) - he is a novelist. He write detective/crime pieces as I recall.

One of the other people we ran into was Dick Clark. Tom and I were just a part of the crowd leaving after the end of the Blue Man Group show and Dick Clark was going into the theater. He was going against the crowd and we just happened to be part of the line he was going through. I literally brushed arms with him. That was pretty cool.

It made for a really nice few hours of chatting and adding information to my Listography book. I always like a project and it's nice when you can involve the spouse and the TV mute button. We also talked about all of the live bands we've seen (it was another Listography subject) but I'll save that one for another day.

Oooh, I saw Bob Hope when I was waiting for a plane at O-Haire ariport. I was 10. I'll have to write that one down, too!

Have you brushed elbows with anyone famous?
Have a great day!
Kristin
