This is the stuff that dreams are made of. I actually don't make very many things with colored paper, but I love it nonetheless. I once thought I might buy one of each color and put them up on my wall - sort of the like a really big paint swatch stack. Of course once I realized that it would cost me a hundred dollars or more to buy one of every color and that it might take up more than one wall, I sort of lost my enthusiasm.
My friend Bob and I went into a K-mart once and took one of each paint swatch from the Martha Stewart paint line. It was a brand new line of paint in those days and the colors were A-ma-zing. I kept the colors in a photobox and I would flip through them fairly often. I finally used up as many as I could and I tossed the rest. I get a little catch in my throat when I think about it. I threw them away.
I've been searching for the past few hours trying to find the photos of the project that I made with those paint chips. Now I feel bad talking about them, when I don't have a photo, but I'm not giving up on this post because I've been slaving away for hours with this topic! I'll have to make up another one some day soon so I can show it off.
(Edited to add - I found the pictures. Here's the blog post I wrote about them -- How to make a paint chip card)
Speaking of paper -- Have you purchased a calendar for 2010 yet? Do you usually receive one for Christmas? I'm still trying to figure out which printable calendar I want. I've purchased one already, but I want a little one, too.
Yes, I'm in love with paper. (and blogging, too!)
Have a fabulous week!!

Be still my heart!
ReplyDeleteI love paper too. I have skads of scrapbook paper, some of which I can't bring myself to use! It's too pretty to cut.
Yet another something we have in common.
I did forget to mention that the photo in the post was taken at my local Hobby Lobby.
ReplyDeleteI purchased a few small books of scrapbooking paper, but ended up giving it away. I'd just look at it and sigh and never use it.
Oh boy1 I remember how sneaky we were taking two color swatches of that MS paint line...and there were lots of colors! I also kept mine in a photo box, held onto them for years, used them to pick colors that are in my house today, but, alas, I no longer have the swatches themselves!
ReplyDeleteI am still waiting for you and your sisters to open your own paper store...perfect retail for you!
great colors in that photo. Erin, my youngest, hates the feel of paper. LOL needless to say she has trouble with it in school.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you all. Love it. I could spend a fortune on it at the scrap stores and love it so much, that I hate to use it or waste it. lol.
ReplyDeleteI don't really get that into paper, but your post is making me reconsider it...
