Uniquely Identical
Unknown Mami hosts Sundays in My City. Bloggers from around the globe join in her picture fest, so if you'd like to take a quick trip, go on over and click on the other links. Thanks Mami (Mah-meee) for this event each week.
Jacksonville, FL is my city this week, in the San Marco area specifically. I had my husband drive me around because I don't know that area very well and I know that he's scoped it out as it's got some cool looking houses. We both enjoy looking at houses.
These two houses caught our eye. They were a completely different style than the surrounding houses and yet they were nearly identical! It definitely made us look twice.
The first house. I especially liked the oval window with the vine (close up of it was the first photo.)
Second house.
Pink Flamingos :)
Love it.
I just realized that by the time I got to this house, the car that was in the driveway had left.
Oh Thank You kindly car owner - I really wanted a shot of the garage door.
When we first drove by these houses, this garage door is what called to me and had me instructing Tom to turn around and go back for a photo op.
As we drove around the corner we found a third house, exactly like these two. I didn't take a photo of it as there were too many cars in the way.
THEN - we spotted a fourth house. This one was for sale. This meant we were allowed to peek in the windows :)
It had actually been turned into an office and the garage converted into living/working space. That window where the garage door used to be is pretty cool.
In a neighborhood where all of the houses were very different from one another, it was so much fun to find this family of identical houses with the unique brick curves and beautiful front entries.
Have a grand day!
Kristin
Amazing-- They all really do look exactly alike. I wonder why the builders didn't change them up a bit. They again, they are really nice looking houses loaded with character.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,

I just love all the brick work, and I think I like the last house best, I'd forego my garage to have added space!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get my husband to do it to our garage now!
You must be very excited when sneaking around! :)
ReplyDeleteAs Joanna said: these houses are loaded with character.
SIMC greetings from Casa,
have a great week ahead!
How interesting! What era were these built, do you suppose?
ReplyDeleteThere are some fascinating cities in the USA. I enjoyed visiting yours...I did this feature too with just a single photo..
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those houses.
ReplyDeletemaybe they are "mail-order" houses from Sears or Mont Ward. You used to order a kit and your house would arrive in pieces, ready to be assembled!
ReplyDeleteOr did the neighborhood once house factory workers or something?
I guess the builder only had one plan he would build. It's a cute house. Love the garage door. Putting in extra space was a good idea. We had a very old house in Illinois that had a cool old door.
ReplyDeleteI like them very much. I would not mind if you guys bought me the one that is for sale.
ReplyDeleteWow. They're really cool! The last shot puzzles me, though; is that tiny man in the foreground your husband?! It's an awesome pic.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing houses! I love houses that have steps leading up the front door - I find it so welcoming. Lovely!
