Friday Fragments

It's Friday Fragments Day!
It's Friday Fragments Day!
It's almost 2011, too!!

Our fearless leader is Mrs. 4444 whose blog, Half Past Kissing Time, is a JOY to read.  She has gathered many wonderful bloggers to Frag on Fridays and we love her for getting us all together.

At brunch my little cousin says to his Mom "Hey Mom!  Did you know that Grandma has cannonballs in her car?"

*•-:¦:-•:*''''*:•-:¦:-•

Overheard at my sister's house.  Little Sophie said to her Mom, "I'm going to turn you into a statue, but you can breathe and blink." And with that she turned her into a statue.

I've met quite a few people lately who talk about the woman who helps them navigate the city streets.   One of them calls her Sarah and another Jill.  My Dad on the other hand calls her Naggy.  Do you have a name for your GPS voice?

I just received a GPS in October, but I haven't used it yet.  I don't tend to name things, so I doubt my gal would have a name.

I find it odd that I don't name thing (or can't.)  My Aunt saw a photograph of me as a kid holding a doll.  She asked me what her name was and I had no idea.  I told her I was sure I called her what the package had named her...Baby Tenderlove.  I don't recall ever naming any of my dolls.  I've agonized for weeks trying to name my cats and I think that Tom named the two I have had with him.  My ex boyfriend named the cat we had together.  Maybe this is why I didn't have any children!  I was afraid I couldn't name them?!

I've joined two groups in the past few days.  Two photography groups.  One is a 365 group that Lisa Ceasar Photography put together.  It's for bloggers and friends, so if you are interested please give a shout and I'll get you an invite.  The other is a 52 project.  One photo a week.

*•-:¦:-•:*''''*:•-:¦:-•

I'm thinking that the 365 is going to be the hardest.  I already do a photo a day (my POTD) but my personal rules are that the photos just have to be taken by me, not necessarily on that day.  In the 365 group, the idea is to take at least one photo a day.  That is going to be VERY good for me.  Sometimes I have gone a week or more without picking up my camera.

The 52 project is just one photo a week and it has to be taken in that week.  I like this project because I can take my time, kind of, and submit one of my best photos.

I'm not sure what's going to happen to the POTD on my blog.  I'll just have to see how all of these projects turn out.

My BFF Bob's birthday is New Years Eve.  Happy Birthday Bob!  I love you.  See you in February :^)

Thanks for stopping by!  It's been a pleasure.  Please go on over to Mrs. 4444's place, Half Past Kissing Time, for some more delightfully fragmented frags.

Happy New Year!!
Kristin

All the photos are from my evening jaunt around a few East Lansing, MI neighborhoods, taking pictures of lights and snow.

  3. we didn't name the GPS lady but she is a pain in the ass at times.
I think Trixie would be a good name for a GPS or a cat (maybe even your husband who I don't even know anything about). I wish I had a sister named Trixie. I'm sure she would chew gum constantly.

  4. I love these pictures!
I had a Baby Tenderlove too, I loved her so much, that I bought one on Ebay a while back for my daughter.
I name everything. I once attempted to get John to name one of our pets, but that didn't work out so well. He is not a namer!

  5. I love the Christmas light shots--Very fun!

Our GPS has no name. I also called my Baby Beans doll Baby Beans. Krissy also kept her factory-given name, as did Raggedy Ann. I think you just like to keep things simple :)

We once named a psychotic cat SI, short for Supercilious Imperturbability. (I'm guessing we were drunk at the time.)

  6. FH calls his GPS gal "Penny" 'cause he likes the British voice and he thinks she sounds like "Penny" on some British spy show.

I, on the other hand, call her "Dreadful Penny" 'cause I HATE the GPS. I have a brain which I intend to keep using! I don't need a mindless machine telling me where to go or when to get off!

  7. I loved all the pictures. And thanks for the shout out. I am really looking forward to this project. I hope I can stick with it. :)

  8. Hmmm, naming things. Interesting.
Our GPS was immediately named Margot.

All my dolls were named, but my favorite name for dolls or cats was Suzie. I'm still a little annoyed with my mother for throwing my Suzie doll away when she became injured. Without any consultation.

  9. naming things is actually hard! children, animals, techy toys... it all has to flow right. we do have a GPS but have not named it yet... good idea.

i wish i was better at photography. i think you will love both those groups. anything that forces you to focus on your creativity. and you do take some amazing photos, so jump on in.

  10. OK, why didn't I realize that you lived in Lansing? My aunt and uncle live in East Lansing and were just here for Christmas! Beautiful pictures!

I love that your dad calls his GPS Naggy. Sounds like a perfect name!

I am sure you would have come up with something for kids names, like kid or boy or girl!

    Happy New Year!

  13. Kids say the darndest things! Wow those are some big challenges to take on. I think that if you take a picture each day you will also have some for your POTD! I don't have a GPS. Maybe if I left my house more often I would use one.
    Happy New Year!
