Tamara de Lempicka

This is Tamara de Lempicka. She was an artist that worked primarily in the 1920's through the 1950's. She was a Polish native, who fled to Paris during the Russian revolution, then eventually made her way to the United States and spent the end of her life in Mexico. She had several husbands, affairs, knew many artists of the day - all in all she had an incredibly wild life. She also had a very unusual painting style, some called it a "Soft Cubism" but she was identified more with Art Deco. If you would like to read up on

I am mentioning her because because the mural I pointed out the other day in my Mother's kitchen was indeed painted by my sister, but the style and the portraits were all Tamara de Lempicka. My mother found several postcards one day that included the woman, the man and the calle lilies and mirror. My sister worked those three postcards into a mural for the kitchen. She is so talented. Just like my sister painted The Pool House in the style of Thomas McKnight, she painted this in the style of de Lempicka. Below is the mural in my mom's kitchen, that I showed you the other day -- and below that are some original pieces from de Lempicka. I couldn't find the picture of this particular man in the white coat, but I think you can see the style is the same. I just wanted to make it perfectly clear that this is someone elses style of painting.
