Birdsongs
This is a photo of a clock that is very close to being on it's last warble.
I've left the picture in its giant size so you can click the photo to see what delightful birds greet us with each hour.
The 8am/pm bird is the one I dislike the most.
It's frightening.
My grandmother purchased (or received) this clock right after it first came out. The subsequent releases had an off switch. This one does not.
My mother finds it amusing.
After a week of hearing it each hour, I'm finding it less amusing.
Today we had guests and they both were startled when they heard the bird sound for the very first time.
They agreed that if it were in their house it would be without batteries.
I'm thinking I would be willing to find a replacement clock.
One with zero chirping, warbling, cooing or croaking.
I'm going to be on the lookout for one :)
Hope you're having a fabulous weekend!
Kristin

Bahah! I know why your mother loves this clock! I would love it too!
Yikes! I definitely would not enjoy this clock! Good luck with the search :)
We have similar clocks around here - birds, dogs and cats...oh and train sounds. Needless to say, none are mounted on wall and operating.
I remember those, never had one but I can only imagine how it would get to me!! So your mom listens to it all the time?
What's so scary about the Carolina Chickadee's song???? I love those little guys - - - they are such acrobats at our bird feeder.
I've seen clocks like this in others' homes - - - have never owned one though. Seems like something Fisherhubby and I WOULD own, as much as we like WILD THANGS!!!
Too funny. Believe me, I can relate. I bought my husband a similar clock, only it was car engine sounds and muscle car pictures. We still jump when we hear it because it has long ago stopped keeping accurate time, so you never know when it will hit the top of the hour and rev an engine.
A new clock has been on my shopping list since last summer. I just planned to coordinate with your mom :)
THE clock! Ha! Great to see it in person (er, on your blog anyway).
I hope you made it home safely! I SO enjoyed you yesterday.
I had a friend who owned one of these clocks. She loved it too and was very upset when one day, it just stopped working. Her son had just changed the battery, so she knew it wasn't dead - until he moved out. That's when he put the battery in correctly. He had purposely put the battery in backwards and she had left the clock hanging on the wall of her kitchen, seemingly broken, for months. :)
I love this clock and I had one for several years. I spray painted the fake wood to be a "stone" texture finish ..the 8? you dislike?. I love to hear the chickadees all year long .. I love laying in bed while they create a ton of noise outside.
I have to laugh bc Big Daddys grandparents have one. You either love it or hate it. I kinds find it comical at each hour, it drives my husband nuts when we visit. LOL
