White and Nerdy
My friend over at Pragmatic Compendium introduced me to this video (here) if you can't see it above. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've watched this and laughed and laughed! Donny Osmond dancing in the background - it's just priceless. The completed video of "White and Nerdy" is very good, too and if you like the song then be sure and see it (here) but I will love the green screen version best.
I'm seriously thinking that the Donny dance might just be a fabulous workout! He certainly looks exhausted at the end. Too fun.
Enjoy!

Africa, transplants and souls

If you do nothing else, just listen to the first minute or two and hear the rain. It's truly spectacular.
You probably won't cry, like I did. I'm kinda emotional.
Click on over to Kim Komando's site and watch it... please
Video of the Day - Perpetuum Jazzile
*****************
While I've got you here. Two of my support group friends got Liver transplants this weekend. Holidays always bring with them a bit of hope for transplant folks, but unfortunately that means that tragedy must have struck someone else. I'm so thankful that two of my friends were able to receive something they so desperately needed because a grieving family gave the gift of life. Thank you.
*****************
My husband is in Michigan (for many reasons) but one of them was to visit his brother who is still in the hospital. Yesterday (Monday) marked the 5th week he's been in the hospital. That is virtually unheard of here at the Mayo Clinic Hospital. Many patients can go back to their home towns after just 21 post transplant. I just don't know what to make of my brother-in-law's situation. He is still unable to walk, but yesterday, with the help of Tom and someone else, he was able to stand up and shuffle to a chair. This is PROGRESS!! I do believe he is going to be sent to a rehab hospital very soon and I'm so pleased. He's so weak right now, he needs to be up and moving. I think overall he is doing so much better. All of the complications that plagued him post surgery have been cleared up and he is definitely on the mend. What a struggle this has been.
*******************
I'm going up to the hospital today to visit with my neighbor, Jim, who I just learned was admitted yesterday morning. I'm also going to visit my transplant friends. I'm probably going to run down to the 3rd Street diner and get a spanikopita (spinach pie) and a diet Coke, too. Here I am wanting to go visit with friends and all I can talk about it food. I think I'm hungry right now, that's probably why!
*******************
I've been trying to join in on Friday Fragments over at Half Past Kissing Time and haven't been able to due to the number of groups I'm in that post on Thursdays and Fridays. So I guess I've been saving up for this. Mrs. 4444, I'll eeek in some time when my journal wrecking group is done. :) I'm making up for it right now, though, I'm full of fragments lol
*******************
A few weeks ago, when I was at Barnes and Noble - That was the day I bought Wreck this Journal, as a matter of fact. Anyway, I was standing at the magazine racks next to this lovely woman. She kept turning around making sure the two little boys she brought with her were still sitting on the bench. All of a sudden one of the little boys said "You are going to miss me when I'm gone. You don't realize it now, but you will...trust me." I looked over and saw that the older boy was holding on to the younger one - playfully but I'm sure he was holding on a bit tight lol The woman then looked at me and said, "I swear, those two have been on this earth before." I laughed. When I looked at the boys again, they really did look like old souls.
What a strange conversation to have at a magazine rack with a total stranger.
*******************
I need to go get a bite to eat, my stomach just informed me that it's been far to long. You've heard those sounds, right? The stomach growls? I'm here to inform you that they are REALLY loud when the house is totally quiet.
Have a fabulous day! Catch ya later.

Do-re-mi
You will need to have the volume on to really enjoy this. 4 minutes.
It made me cry. I'm still not sure why, but I had tears streaming down my face for the entire time. Most of you will just watch and enjoy and not cry LOL
Have a fabulous day!

Improv Everywhere
Have you ever been to a place where you thought something odd was happening but you just couldn't quite figure it out. Almost as if there was some kind of a joke happening all around you but you weren't in on it?
I go to Target a surprising number of times wearing a bright red shirt. So the entire time I'm shopping, I get asked to help someone find something. I've been in an airport when a family reunion has just ended and it seems like everywhere I look there is a group of people wearing the same t-shirt. Bike week in Daytona Beach was interesting because all of a sudden many many thousands of motorcycles would arrive in town and our once car clogged streets were now teeming with motorcycles.
Sometimes things just happen around you.
What would you do in this case? Click the link and watch the video. It's a lot of fun.
Grand Central Station
That would have been so much fun to witness.
I am fascinated with twins and had I been on this train I think my mind would have just exploded trying to figure this out. But then again, I often wonder if I would have noticed!
Human Mirror
This was funny. A improv musical in the middle of a Food Court in L.A.
Food Court Musical
I hope you have a fabulous day!

Members Only
I just saw this on List of the Day it is NOT a PG site. Although they do have a lot of posts that are just fine - overall though - it's not for kids.
Some of their stuff is so funny and this one, this one just took me back. It's a commercial from the 80's. Anthony Geary is in it -- He was Luke on General Hospital, as in Luke and Laura. I used to watch GH when I went to my neighbors house after school, so I know about the Luke and Laura phase, but never really got into it. ANYWAY - watch this video...

Picking paint colors
Have you ever had trouble picking paint colors?
What about trying to describe what colors you'd like to have?
I think of this particular scene each and every time I go into a paint store.
This is one of my all time favorite movies. I've probably seen it a dozen times. If it happens to be on TV, the world stops and I sit down and watch it. Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948) Cary Grant & Myrna Loy. The Money Pit was a remake (sort of) of this movie.
I went on a movie quest one long cold winter and watched as many Cary Grant movies as I could find. I had already been a fan but I felt I needed to see more. It made that particular winter in Coldwater, MI a lot easier to handle. I found that I really did like Cary Grant - Archibald Alexander Leach. There was another movie (comedy) where one of the main characters was named Archibald Leach. Can you name that movie?? I'll post the answer in the comments later today or tomorrow.
Watch this.. it's fun.

Make Me Cocoa

I was thinking about cold weather. Probably because I just got back from Michigan where we had snow, but also because our temps are going down to about 33 degrees tonight here in Jacksonville, FL. When I think about cold weather I think of bonfires, sledding, cold cheeks and hot cocoa.
One of the funny things that my husband does every so often is this...when he is going to take a nap he'll say "Wake me up and make me cocoa." I laugh every time.
and then I start humming this song.
Wake Me Up by Wham
Watch the video
Jitterbug
Jitterbug
Jitterbug
Jitterbug
You put the boom boom into my heart
You send my soul sky high when your loving starts
Jitterbug into my brain
Goes a bang bang bang till my feet do the same
If something's bugging you
If something ain't right
My best friend told me what you did last night
Left me sleeping in my bed
I was dreaming but I should have been with you instead
Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not planning on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high
You put the grey skies out of my way
You make the sun shine brighter than Doris Day
You turn a bright spark into a flame
My beats per minute never been the same
'Cause you're my lady I'm your fool
It makes me crazy when you act so cruel
Come on baby lets not fight
We'll go dancing everything will be alright
Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not planning on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high
yeah, yeah, yeah
jitterbug, jitterbug
Cuddle up baby move in tight
We'll go dancing tomorrow night
It's cold out there but its warm in bed
They can dance, we'll stay home instead
jitterbug
Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not planning on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high

Need a laugh? Well, have I got something for you. As I'm hanging out in the kitchen with the family, watching dinner being made, talk of this video came about. This was so funny! Please watch it and then watch it again and show your family.

Best Man Fail
I got this from one of my favorite blogs. Fail Blog
Some of the items on Fail Blog are NOT PG. Well, most of them probably aren't PG.
Do yourself a favor though and watch this Best Man Fail.

How to Peel a Hard Boiled Egg
Hard-boiled eggs can be annoying and time consuming to peel. In this video, master of time management Tim Ferris (author of the great book, The Four Hour Work Week), demonstrates how easy it is to get the egg without having to peel it!
Instructions:
- Cover the eggs with water and boil on low for about 12 minutes
- Cool the eggs by placing them in cold water with 1 teaspoon of baking soda and ice. The baking soda raises the pH level and reduces adherence. If you choose not to use baking soda, be sure to move the eggs into cold water with plenty of ice immediately after boiling
- Crack the top of the egg and remove a small piece
- Crack the bottom (wide end) of the egg and remove a small piece
- Hold the egg in your hand and blow vigorously into the narrow end of the egg, which will expel it out the wide end.
- Doesn’t get much easier than that! Just be ready to catch it when it comes out…

1974
I was wandering through some of the blogs that I read and found a list of the top 50 songs of 1974 (the year my husband graduated from high school.) I'm surprised at how many songs I knew. I was 7 most of that year. The last few months of the year I was 8.
So the past half hour I have been performing a hilarious karaoke of songs from the 70's.
This is where you can find the original list, at List of the Day.
The David Hasselhoff video that was featured on the List of the Day was the highlight, though. Watch it. Laugh. Enjoy.
