WFMW - Works For Me Wednesdays

Works for me Wednesday

I’ve been reading the WFMW posts for about a month now - you all have some great ideas. This is my first week posting a tip for WFMW, I do hope you enjoy. I love to clean things, but I also want to spend the least amount of effort doing it. I want it to be fast and easy and I don't want to use smelly chemicals. I'm a fan of soap and water.

If you’d like to see more Works for Me Wednesday posts, please click here.

I have a love affair with my shower. It is a man made composite material of some sort, it is bright white, it is supposed to look like tile, but it isn’t. It is supposed to look like there is grout between the tiles, but there isn’t - it is just one big plastic-like tub surround...I just love it. I hated it when I first saw it - When I toured other condos in our building I was shocked that even those folks who upgraded their bathrooms, still kept that awful tub surround. THEN I found the trick...

It is a chamois type product - It is called The Absorber - I googled it and this is just one of the many places I found -- The Absorber. It is the best thing EVER. I found mine at Target in the clearance section a few years ago, but now that I know how awesome it is, I would gladly pay the going rate.

When I get done showering, I pick up the absorber from its throne (laying across the tub faucet) and I get it wet -- I then wipe off the walls of my plastic-like tub surround. It takes a moment - maybe three moments. The fake tiles, two years later, look like they have never had a drop of water on them.

The Absorber is stiff like cardboard when it dries - but when you get it wet you can literally roll it up. I have placed it on the floor of the tub so you can get a little bit or perspective on the size of the cloth. Have I mentioned that I love this product!

For the tub, I use a magic eraser once a week - I keep it in the shower and just before I finish up in the shower I just grab the magic eraser and clean the entire tub, hose it down, turn off the water, wipe the walls with my absorber and my tub and shower are tide-clean!
My quick tip - Clean the shower while you're in it.

Have a Great Day!

I'm obsessed with my shower too, but you wouldn't know it from seeing it's nasty mess. Does the Absorber work on tile too?

I have tile, but I am willing to try this...I HATE cleaning the shower so if this helps...I'm all for it. Esp. the Magic Eraser.

Great tip

The absorber just takes all of the water off of your walls - so sure, it would work on tile, glass, whatever your surface. It is made for drying off cars - I just happened to use it in the shower lol

Once a month or so I actully clean the shower with a little shampoo on a nylon scrubbie - but I think the act of drying it off every day keeps 99% of the gunk from even forming.

Oh and I toss the absorber into my wash. How cool is that??

Have a Great Day!

Thanks for your comment on my blog! I LOVE my Magic Eraser - it's the only thing that will get my nubbly textured tub clean. We will be quite near you this summer when we vacation in Pensacola! My family has been going to Pensacola Beach since I was a little girl and we love the Panhandle coast. It's truly a hidden treasure.

I used to keep a little squeegee/scraper in the shower to wipe down the door. Using it daily made a real difference. Unfortunately, my husband is tall and has long arms and kept knocking it with his elbow (really, it is fortunate that my husband is tall and has long arms because he can reach things I can't but he did keep knocking the squeegee ;+) Small, everyday cleaning does make a difference, though.

I'm a bit late chiming in on this one, but wanted to add a quick tip. You know those after-shower sprays they sell for $3 & up per bottle and run out in two weeks? You can make your own refill solution, using 2-3 tablespoons of Liquid Jet Dry and filling up the rest of the way with water. I shower, quickly spray the curtain & walls, and I'm done. I never, EVER scrub or even wipe my shower and it is perfectly clean!

My shower is exactly like yours. I love the fact that I don't have to clean grout or caulk. I'm definitely going to look for an Absorber. Maybe I could get my kids to use it in their shower too!
