Bobcat

Last week my husband came home from an estimate all excited.  He met this man who made wooden bowls and he was given a tour of the house and all of the beautiful things in the house.  I told him that when he went back to do the job, I'd love to tag along.  Yesterday he did the job and I tagged along :)  I brought my camera and both lenses.  The wife was home this time and she was so excited to tell me stories about the bowls, the pieces of art and stories about the other pieces in their home.

One of the things that struck me was this bobcat sitting on the entry table.  She told me that she found him on the side of the road.  He was still warm, but no signs of life.  She decided to get him to a taxidermist so she could preserve his beauty.  It was determined that this fella was about a year old.  I had a terrible time getting good shots of him but I wanted to share him.

Thank you to the folks who shared their home and time with us.  We talked for over an hour after Tom finished the job.  I hope we can go back some day and chat some more with them.  I'll be sharing the wooden bowls later in the week.

We had bobcats on our property before we moved. Our cat, Kujo, mated with a male bobcat. One of theirs looked like this bobcat with a tiny little meow. Our Sassy is a Maine Coon Cat because of the mix. She is so beautiful and huge. Her head is twice larger than any regular cat. I love your pics!

OHHHH. This post brought back memories. My dad killed a bobcat once. Only once b/c he said it was way to close to jumping on his grandson. He had him stuffed. For many years, he was a fixture in home office, sitting serenely on top of my bookshelves. Many a wanderer in my house mistook him for a live cat. Of course, I figure that's what you get for wandering around unbidden in people's houses.

Stopped by because of your name...we use to have goats...so I just had to see what you were about...then I saw the "cat" pictures...That would be awesome if it was real...but still way cool!!

Taxidermy is soooo... creepy. But he is incredibly cool and looks so relaxed like he belongs right there - like a pet.

Poor Bobcat. He sure is a beauty--reminds me of my Manny boy cat.

I love Bobcats. We have them here in NH. They have giant paws filled with fluffy fur between the toes, to walk on snow and not sink.
University of NH (my double alma) is home of the Wildcats...i.e. bob cats. We have a stuffed one in our library museum who is a cult figure on campus. We all end up seeking and finding that dusty old cat.
Meow!

What a pity he died so young.

nice looking cat. I have not heard of taking roadkill (I assume from you story) to a taxidermist.

The shots are great, but I'm one of those who find the premise a bit creepy.

Amazing that she had a Bobcat on her table! I too thought it was alive and well in the first picture and WONDERED how you managed to get that CLOSE to it. Even when you STARTED telling the story, I thought mayhaps they had a bobcat PET that they had rescued from the side of the road and restored to health.

Oh goodness!

I thought it was alive at first too and was freaking out thinking someone had it as a pet.
