Great Blue Heron

The grounds at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville are quite lovely.  I think it helps to have some beautiful surroundings when you are sick and Mayo has it.  They even have some wildlife.

Mayo has quite a few ponds and everyone talks about seeing the alligator but all I've ever seen is the Great blue Heron.

On this day I didn't make friends with the heron.

As soon as I came back with my camera, the heron honked at me a few times and flew off.

It was such a pretty flight, that I tried to capture as much of it as possible.

Someday I'm sure I'll see the alligator.

Have a great day!

Hopefully you will not see them both together because the Heron might not be fast enough.

I think I would rather see the crane than the gator.

Brotherbob lives near the Horicon marsh, a busy stop for bird life on their migration pathway. So we occasionally see herons on their dock, but were astonished to see flocks of pelicans!

I think it's a wise thing for Mayo to have a nature sanctuary for families and clients. For staff, too, speaking as a nurse. I'd like to see the gator, too.
