Uncle John's Cider Mill

It's a family trip to Uncle John's Cider Mill in St. Johns, Mi.  ujcidermill.com.   Alison's family, Jim and the three girls, my Mom and I all piled into the car and made a little road trip out of it.  Well, it's only about 30 miles, so it's not much of a road trip, but it was fun.

Zora was making ghost sounds while posing in the above photo.  I got one where all the kids are looking at me, but this one is my favorite. :)

She hollered out, "I'm the tallest!" She's only 6 years old, but she's so tall already that she hardly needs to stand on top of the wooden train to be the tallest.

We started off the Uncle Johns adventure by playing in the sand and climbing the wooden trains.  Stella really wanted to ride the tricycles but her legs were just a teensy bit too short.  Next year I bet we won't be able to get her off of the tricycle track.

Here were their instructions. "Smile Zora, wave Stella."

Good Job!

We took this little train around the cutest display.  They had these scarecrow people doing all sorts of the fun things.  It was a little bumpy so I didn't take any photos until nearly the end when it smoothed out a bit.  I would have liked to photograph all of the displays but we weren't allowed to wander around.  Oh well.  It was just adorable anyway.

Time to eat the donuts and taste that wonderful cider.

This seriously was the best cider I've ever tasted.  It's not strong at all -  it tastes like a smooth, delicious, liquid apple.

The skeleton was the piano player and if you fed the machine a quarter he'd play for you.  Zora and Stella (the blurs you see) fed the piano a dollar and danced four songs.  They loved it.

The buttermilk donuts were crunchy on the outside and light on the inside.  Those were my favorites, but we tried the cider and powder cinnamon sugar ones, too.  All of them were yummy.

Then we took a wagon out to the pumpkin patch.

We were heading to the back of the field to find a large pumpkin.

Zora was on a mission and Stella wasn't too far behind her big sister.

Scarlett loved the pumpkins.  She thought they were all drums.

Alison, Stella, Scarlett and I all took the wagon back to the main building.

Jim, Zora and my Mom walked back hauling the pumpkins.  We had purchased too many to ride with us on the wagon.

Before we left the pumpkin patch, I got a photo of the family.

I had never been there before, but Alison and Jim are making it a yearly event.  There is so much for the kids to do and if you go on a week day, it's not very crowded.  I can only imagine what the place is like on the weekends.

Hope you have a great day!

Oooo, I know Uncle Johns Cider mill. From riding past it, anyway!

Your sister and her family are beautiful! The whole time looks like fun. Thanks for the outing. (My book club just left, so I need a little "outdoors").

You just gotta LOVE these kinds of places. Then, put them together with KIDS, especially kids you love and cherish - - -and it is just an AWESOME combination.

Reminds me sooooo much of my pictures of Mackinley at the pumpkin patch which I took two years ago.

Cause really, I KNOW I'm missing so much if I can't see your photography.

I'm glad you are enjoying yourself.

The girls are beautiful! It really is so good to be able to finally see your pictures. The pic of Scarlet with her finger in her mouth is precious.
