The Beach

I talk about the beach quite a bit because I live near it, vacation near one at times and well, you all seem to like it!  It's also an easy place to go when I'm out of ideas of where to go to take photos.

I've been wanting to gather a bunch of these little shells at this specific beach for over a year now.  Today as I was leaving the Mayo Clinic (I was visiting a friend who just got a liver transplant) I decided that today was the day by golly.

I drove all the way down to this beach, 20 miles or so from home, when I realized that I didn't have a bag in the car.  I swore I put one in the back, but nope, I was mistaken.

On the way out I stopped at our mailbox and got the mail.  Thankfully my husband received a T-shirt that was enclosed in one of those waterproof envelopes.  Sorry honey, I opened your mail, I had to!

He totally would have done that to me.

Do unto others as you know they would do to you.

Isn't that the way it goes?

By the way, I just love the photo above.

The sea oats gives height to the picture, as well as foreground interest and the umbrellas low in the opposite corner draw your eye to the other side with a punch of color.  I wish there was a cloud in the sky over the water, but they were mostly over the land today.

This is the beach area.  Down by the water it is sandy, but up on the ledge it's all shells.

It's such a pretty area.

All along the beach I saw parts of the beach sectioned off in triangles.   They were in different locations along the beach, too.  Some up high near the green and others down in the sand.

Turns out that these are turtle nests.  We're not supposed to disturb them, so I didn't  :)  I hope that my photo taking didn't disturb them.

Not a lot of people on the beach today, but I'm not surprised, it was late afternoon and it was hot out.

I wanted clouds in at least one water shot, so that's why I included this one :)

If someone comes to visit me in Jacksonville, I will take you to this spot, if it's not raining.

Isn't this just a lovely spot?  Since Florida is soooo flat, I really do get very excited whenever I see hill!  But this area really is fabulous.  Love the three palm trees at the tippy top on the left.  They have a great view, huh?

This was going to be my photo of the day for tomorrow, but I it really needed to be here.  It's the whole reason I went to this beach.  I didn't arrange anything either.  The sticks and shells were all naturally placed.  The main color in the shells is orange, but I noticed that there's a lot of purple in the shells, too.  Purple and orange really do go together.

Maybe that will be my next decorating scheme.

I'll have to talk to Yellow and Burgundy though as they've been my paint color choices in the last few houses.  Not sure if they'll give up their reign quite that easy.

All of these are just the stuff that fantasies are made of.

The bright beach umbrella one is especially lovely.

I love all your beach photos. A trip to the beach is great. Your shot with the shells is really good too, I particularly like that one. It reminds me of a long time ago when I collected shells, and now my kids do the same thing!.

well you know I love the beach as we named our daughter interesting how different they can be on the west versus east coast...or even northern versus southern california beaches...yours are so much more scenic and rural and ours are usually covered with people...sea loves collecting shells and orange is her favorite color so we'll have to make it your way one of these days! you got a lot of great photos!

It's been a long time since I've been to Jacksonville. You have gorgeous beaches.

I hope your friend recovers quickly from surgery and that the transplant is a complete success.

Beautiful beach and fabulous photos! I love looking at all the different colours in shells, no wonder they get used for jewellery all over the world.

Gorgeous! For a second I though you were going to say you used your husband's T-shirt to gather the shells.

nice pics
Your background on the pictures is interesting and good reading.

Hey thanks for answering those questions about the book your picture is in. Maybe I should add my email to my blogger profile. I was just trying to avoid spam.

Love the photos. I wish our Oregon beach was as pretty as yours. It might be majestic during the storms, but rarely warm and inviting like yours.

As always wonderful pictures. I love an empty beach. So how do they use those turtle nets? The shot of the shells is awesome.
