I just read the most facinating thing over at We are THAT Family.
They had an auction at their family reunion.
It was the coolest sounding thing.
We have two family reunions a year. A hat used to be passed around to collect money for postage - although now with the internet, postage may be a thing of the past...but still, we may have to pay for the pavillion for one of the reunions. (I haven't been in a few years, so I am really out of touch.) This really would be such a fun thing to do at one of the reuinions sometime.
Anyway, Kristen, the Mom of the We Are THAT Family blog, wrote up a cute tale of their auction adventure, so if nothing else go read it.
I love auctions myself, so this is totally up my alley!
Have a great day!

Awww! Thanks for sharing this with your readers! I have some pretty fantastic heirlooms (and some junk) that lives permanently at my home thanks to those auctions!
I read it too and loved it! What a great idea!
My BFF from work...her family does this each year! They do the auction things for the cabins and food the next year! Each year a different part of the family picks the theme! This year my BFF family is picking the theme Margaretville! They have t-shirts made up! It's a total blast! I went 2 years ago and LOVED it! I even pissed a few of her family members off by out bidding them on this really cool Sangria set! HA! Needless to say they remember me when they see me! HA! They also have a family horseshoe tournament! They swim, they hang out, eat, drink...it's just FUN! This year they are going to do a scavenger hunt for the lost shaker of salt to go along with the theme!!!!
I laughed straight out loud at the "Lost Shaker of Salt" part LOL Too funny, J, too funny.
