Woodpecker

Peckin'

The saddest thing I ever did see
Was a woodpecker peckin' at a plastic tree.
He looks at me, and "Friend," says he,
"Things ain't as sweet as they used to be."

by Shel Silverstein

I just saw this on Miz Booshay's blog which of course I got through the Pioneer Woman's blog. I remember reading Shel Silverstein's books to my sisters. When I was last in Michigan visiting, I think Zora asked to be read something from a Shel Silverstein book. He is timeless, I guess. I even picked out a poem from one of his books and wrote one of them in the Christmas cards I sent out one year.

Have a great day!
Kristin
