Easter Sunday 1995

On Easter Sunday 1995 I taught my sister how to drive my car. She was 16 years old. She needed a car and I had one, but mine was a stick. It was a 1988 Chevy Sprint, manual transmission, AM radio, hatch back and would get about 50 miles to the gallon on the highway. I used to fill it up for $7 (at 99¢ a gallon) and that fill up would last me at least a week for normal city driving.

In 1995 I was dating Tom and he had an extra car, so he told me that I could use his car and give mine to Hillary.

Downtown Lansing Michigan is a ghost town on holidays and Easter Sunday was the perfect day to teach her how to drive the car on real roads with stop lights and stop signs without worrying about traffic.

I started her off in a rather large parking lot that was next to my apartment. I think we ran around in circles there for about an hour until she got the hang of shifting and starting and stopping. Then we ventured out onto the streets. She did a real good job. I was so proud of her. I can't remember if I followed her home or not, but she took the car that day after our lesson.

I just thought it was interesting that we did this on Easter Sunday. I talked to her just a few hours ago and she and I had a good laugh over the events of that day 14 years ago. She just closed on her first home a few days ago. It's so much fun watching her grow up.

Our son Kyle was taught by his dad to drive a stick one afternoon right here in the cul-de-sac we live on.

Hey - - - you didn't mention the GORGEOUS eggs on this post. Those are some of the MOST vivid egg colors I've ever seen!!!

The photo was found on Photobucket - not mine. They are gorgeous! I didn't get any dyed yet. I will though, probably this week LOL

I loved the vibrant photo of the eggs too. What an eye catcher!

How fun that you got to teach your sister to drive! I get the feeling that you two are very close. I find comfort in that. I am very close to my baby sister and close to my older sister.

I can not imagine not being close to all my family. I am truly lucky and so are you. We are blessed to have good families.

I plan on coloring eggs this week with my kids. Late, but we will have fun. Angel is out of school for spring break all week and Pilot, well he's always here- which I love. He has a scouting campout Thurs to Sat, which will be nice for him. I'll miss him, but I am glad he likes to go.

I hope you and Tom had a great Easter! Visit with you later.......
