I can predict the future

Hillary, Galen (Dad) & Kristin 1996ish

My sister Hillary and I were eating at a Chinese place one day. I was telling her about some things I wanted to do in the upcoming months, going into great detail about my plans, as I recall. I remember her saying something to me like - "that sounds good" and she handed me my fortune cookie.

I opened it up and this is what it said.

In case you can't read it, it says "Forget all that wishful thinking and be practical."

I kid you not.

I burst out laughing, showed it to her and she laughed pretty hard, too.

Alison, Galen (Dad) & Hillary also 1996ish

Have a fabulous day with a belly laugh or two tossed in for good measure.

I see your dad is a MSU fan!

OK - - - so I totally see the humor in the fortune cookie fortune, but I'm failing to grasp the connection to the two pictures of your sister, your dad and you - - - both of which are from around the same time period. Was that just to let us see what your sis and dad look like, or is there something I'm just not "getting?"

I was trying to find a photo of just the two of us, but couldn't find one I hadn't used already - but I did find this one. So I thought since Alison wasn't in the first photo, but she was at that lunch that day, I'd just post the other photo.

You always catch me up on the photos. LOL

I just didn't want to have a blog post without a picture - especially when I was talking about family.

Three years ago, my wife and I had lunch at one of our local chinese places and her fortune cookie said, "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst." We laughed. Until that night when a 60 foot oak tree fell through our house, totaling 2 cars and doing over $70,000 of damage to the house. It was completely unliveable and we had to move out for 6 months. We've never been back to that restaurant, and my wife refuses to read another fortune cookie. We did get to completely redo half of our house though!

Too funny! It is eery sometimes when I read a fortune. But I have never had an 'experience' like yours or Dereks. Thank goodness.

I think I will be thinking twice before I read another fortune though. I am knocking on wood, I almost feel jinxed.

Thanks (?) for sharing.
