Pointless Drama

This is something that I've been working on for the past few years....actually, now that I think about it, it's been about 7 years.

I can say without a doubt that there was one family in my life that every single time I spoke with one of them I was immediately sucked into a bad place. I was so sad by whatever was said. Nothing was good. I was miserable for hours after speaking to any member of that family. I didn't hate them, didn't even dislike them, but I allowed their drama to consume me.

My husband and I moved and I took that opportunity to brake all bonds. It was hard, but I did it. I stopped answering the emails being sent, I stopped answering the phone calls from them, I just shut them out. My husband still spoke to them when needed, but I didn't. He didn't seem to be as affected by them.

I could feel my heart mending. I could feel my joy returning from that one decision.

People come into your life for a reason I believe...some are there for a long time and some for just a split second. I have been blessed with knowing so many wonderful people who have taught me so many lessons.

This particular family taught me one of my hardest lessons.

Let Go. Move On.

Have you looked at your circle of friends? the blogs that you read? the job you have? Do they make you happy? do you get to laugh? do you enjoy your work? Sometimes changing just one thing makes your whole life different! Something thinking differently changes your outlook.

I bring joy into my life each day!

Such great words of wisdom! Everything you said is true. You do need to decide when it it time to let go and move on.

Have you noticed also that there are some people you can hang with and their drama seems to get sidetracked when they are with you? You hear from someone else how they can't be with them because they bring them down? I have a family like this near me. I can interact with them just fine, but my other friend cannot.

Chemistry? Probably more along the line that they instinctively know what I will take and what they can't dump on me.

Letting go is hard, but when you have to do it you have to be strong and just do it. Your overall health is your first concern and only you can be in control of you.

I am so proud of you! You are so wise and "earth (street) smart". Thanks for being my friend and sharing with me.

By the way- I found both my oval crocks at a thrift shop. So they were cheap and useful.

Have a wonderful day.

Bob - I love you, too. :)

Keetha - Brunhilda and Borris Bearsaltandpepper was just one of the many things that keep me coming back to your blog, too :)

Shari - True, very true. Sometimes it is just the person's personality as to whether or not they are affected by someone. It's a pleasure getting to know you, too!!

Tricia - Amen Sister!

This is an amazing post. AMAZING I tell ya! You and Keetha both know I have been such a slacker of late, between kids, grandma in hospice, traveling....but know that when I am home I read you both (and Jen DBH & Jeannie) everyday. I love you all and consider you REAL friends.

It's a brave decision, breaking off with someone who emanates bad vibes whenever you come in contact with them.

Life is short, hang with the encouragers! Though I think nobody needs love as much as the unlovable, I'm pretty sure I haven't been assigned to take them all on myself!
